A showcase of creative projects from De Montfort University's Animation program students.
We inspire you to think outside the box, embrace creativity, and redefine storytelling through unique artistic approaches. The curriculum provides essential animation training in the first year, with specialized skill development opportunities beginning in year two.
Throughout the program, you'll cultivate your individual artistic identity while expanding both technical expertise and creative thinking through our comprehensive module offerings.
State-of-the-art facilities feature specialized animation and sound studios, graphic design workspaces, computer labs, and Cintiq workstations. Gain proficiency with industry-standard software including TVPaint, Maya, Photoshop, Premiere Pro, Substance Painter, and After Effects.
Our encouraging studio environment fosters professional growth through teamwork and mentorship. The hands-on learning approach emphasizes practical workshops covering drawing techniques, script development, concept creation, visual storytelling, pre-production processes, sound design, and both 2D and 3D digital animation.
Program duration: 3 years full-time or 4 years with optional placement
Normally 104 UCAS points from at least two A-levels or equivalent, with Art and Design at grade C or above or Art and Design BTEC National Diploma/ Extended Diploma at DMM Plus five GCSEs at grade C or above, including English or equivalent. Alternative qualifications include: Pass in the QAA accredited Access to HE Art and Design course with at least 15 credits in Art and Design at merit. English GCSE required as a separate qualification as equivalency is not accepted within the Access qualification. We will normally require students to have had a break from full-time education before undertaking the Access course or International Baccalaureate: 24+ points including Art and Design at higher level grade 5 or T Levels Merit, or Art and Design Foundation Diploma: Pass Interview Required: Yes. English language – If English is not your first language we require an English language level of IELTS 6.0 with 5.5 in each component or equivalent.
