Forensic biology applies biological principles to connect individuals, like suspects or victims, to specific locations, objects, or other people. This discipline supports investigations in both criminal and civil matters. Two critical aspects during evidence collection, processing, and analysis are maintaining the chain of custody and preventing contamination, particularly given the delicate nature of most biological evidence.
This MSc program emphasizes hands-on learning, focusing on developing the analytical skills needed to assess various forms of forensic evidence from lab exhibits and crime scenes through scenario-based training.
Concentrating on biological evidence—such as DNA, blood, and other bodily fluids—the program trains students in decision-making and forming expert opinions based on real-world cases. You'll acquire essential skills for forensic practice, including courtroom testimony, while learning from experienced professionals who teach within the program. The curriculum also highlights clear, impactful communication through scientific reports, instructions, and collaborative discussions.
