Cranfield University's Centre for Thermal Energy Systems and Materials (CTEM) is currently accepting applications for MSc by Research positions. CTEM boasts an energetic research team that collaborates with top-tier industry and academic partners in bioenergy and waste management to conduct cutting-edge research, provide education, and offer expert consultancy services.
Selected candidates will work under the guidance of CTEM's academic staff to complete a one-year research project aligned with the center's core research focus areas, which encompass:
Conversion technologies for biomass and waste-to-energy systems
Recycling and reprocessing of composite materials and polymers/plastics
Anaerobic digestion processes
Material recovery through advanced landfill mining techniques
Catalytic conversion of syngas and fuel production
High-pressure systems and supercritical fluid applications

Qualification Requirements
Applicants should have a first or second-class UK honours degree or equivalent in a related science and engineering discipline, such as Chemistry, Physics, Chemical Engineering, Environmental Science and Engineering. The candidate should be self-motivated, have good communication skills for regular interaction with stakeholders, with an interest for industrial research.
If you are an international student you will need to provide evidence that you have achieved a satisfactory test result in an English qualification. Our minimum requirements are as follows:
IELTS Academic - 6.5 overall and 5.5 in all skill components.
TOEFL - 92 total and minimum skill component scores of 18 reading, 17 listening, 20 speaking and 17 writing.
