The Centre for Dance Research (C-DaRE) focuses on an interdisciplinary approach to dance research, blending artistic and academic perspectives across fields such as cultural heritage, technology, intellectual property, health, and practice-based studies. C-DaRE organizes numerous conferences, symposia, and research events that draw participants from the UK and around the world. Our biennial Dance and Somatic Practices conference serves as a global platform for scholars and practitioners to present their work through panels, papers, workshops, and performances. Additionally, we host the C-DaRE Invites series, where each event is a distinctive experience co-created with staff and guest contributors. These gatherings may feature presentations, talks, discussions, practice demonstrations, performances, or film screenings, and are typically free and open to the public. Presenters include C-DaRE affiliates, postgraduate researchers, and external guests such as artists and organizations. Every event centers on themes tied to the invitee's research and is often scheduled around mealtimes—breakfast, lunch, or afternoon tea—to foster dialogue and collaboration over shared food and drinks.
