The Global Inequalities and Development Research Group brings together scholars from diverse disciplines and nations, united by their commitment to understanding global challenges and driving positive social transformation. Our research spans developing regions worldwide while also exploring connections to poverty, inequality, and systemic oppression in industrialized nations.
Our team investigates fundamental disparities rooted in gender, socioeconomic status, educational opportunities, and resource distribution. A key focus lies in studying how communities, particularly youth and marginalized populations, foster solidarity, organize movements, and challenge unjust power structures in their pursuit of human rights, equitable representation, and democratic governance. These priorities shape our methodological approach, which emphasizes participatory action research and collaborative knowledge creation with study participants to generate practical solutions for social change.
Migration studies form a core component of our work, highlighted by our leadership of the groundbreaking MIDEQ Hub - the most extensive migration research initiative globally. Supported by GCRF funding, this multinational collaboration across 12 countries conducts rigorous analysis to address migration-related inequalities and advance the rights and wellbeing of migrant populations, their families, and host communities.
