The Fluid Mechanics of Complex Flows research group brings together mathematicians and experimental scientists to address core challenges in fluid dynamics found in both natural phenomena and industrial applications.
Specializing in stability analysis, turbulent flows, convective systems, magnetohydrodynamics, plasma physics, particle-laden and surface-interacting flows, along with sophisticated computational techniques, the group focuses significantly on astrophysical and geophysical fluid dynamics (particularly within planetary cores), materials processing, nuclear technology, and flow diagnostics.
Their scientific investigations receive funding from collaborators such as the Royal Society, Leverhulme Trust, EPSRC, and various industry partners.
