The World Health Organization describes Epidemiology as examining how health-related conditions or events (including illnesses) are distributed and what factors influence them, along with applying this knowledge to manage diseases and other health concerns. Different approaches exist for conducting epidemiological research: surveillance and descriptive studies help analyze patterns, while analytical studies investigate causal factors.
By comprehending what influences health and disease, we can establish evidence-based medical practices that develop solutions for preventing and treating health issues. This involves generating and utilizing top-quality research while partnering with medical professionals and patients.
As part of our Epidemiology & Evidence-Based Healthcare initiative, we aim to recognize and tackle factors contributing to poor health. Through collaborations, we work to address population health needs both nationally and globally. Within our forward-looking Centre for Intelligent Healthcare research, we focus especially on innovative technologies and digital approaches to achieve these goals.
