Year 1
Based on prior qualifications and supervisor consultation, first-year students may enroll in MSc-level courses to enhance core research methodologies (see our Research Methods MSc) and subject expertise (see our MSc programs in Organizational Psychology, Behavioral Economics, Health Psychology, and Clinical, Social and Cognitive Neuroscience). Most Year 1 time is dedicated to research question development and literature review, with some students initiating data collection.
Year 2
Second-year students finalize their literature review, establish their thesis framework, and complete most empirical and analytical work. Some may require specialized training in advanced research techniques.
Year 3
The third year focuses on concluding empirical work, thesis composition, and disseminating findings through publications or conference presentations while exploring career opportunities.
Year 4
While most students complete their thesis within three years, a fourth year may be used for final revisions and submission.
MPhil Status
All research students begin registered for an MPhil. PhD registration requires successful completion of a formal review typically occurring during the second year.
