The School of Law and Politics together with the School of Modern Languages strives to cultivate globally-minded individuals equipped with critical thinking abilities, cultural awareness, and versatile skills. Our four-year BA in Politics and Modern Languages hones advanced communication and analytical capabilities while building resilience through immersive language experiences. The politics curriculum examines governmental operations and analyzes fundamental concepts like democracy, power, justice, and international relations. Our diverse modules investigate political systems from Welsh and UK governance to global affairs, covering policy formation, security studies, human rights, and more - offering comprehensive political knowledge adaptable to your specific interests. For language studies, you can select from Chinese, French, or Spanish. We provide two program tracks: an Upper Elementary level for students with A-level language proficiency, and an Elementary level for beginners. You'll examine your chosen language within its broader social, historical, and cultural contexts while developing comprehensive linguistic competencies through interactive learning materials and activities focused on reading, writing, speaking, listening, and translation skills.
ABB-BBC. If you have grade B in a language at A-level you will have access to the languages Upper Elementary pathway. Extended/International Project Qualification: Applicants with grade A in the EPQ/IPQ will typically receive an offer one grade lower than the standard offer. Please note that any subject specific requirements must still be met.
