Clinical Investigation and Vision Sciences represents a specialized research field available within our Vision Sciences PhD program. Our cutting-edge facilities include advanced retinal imaging systems, visual field testing equipment, electrophysiology tools, and customized psychophysics devices for both applied and fundamental vision research. We serve as a global hub for studying functional and structural aspects of conditions like glaucoma, Age-Related Macular Degeneration, visual field impairments, and various assessments of central and peripheral vision. The group has gained international recognition for its electrophysiology research in glaucoma and diabetes, as well as investigations into ocular characteristics in Down's syndrome. Research activities receive funding from prestigious organizations including the Wellcome Trust, NIHR/NISCHR, Leverhulme Trust, PPP, BUPA, the College of Optometrists, and various other charitable and industry partners.
