The MSc in Social Science Research Methods delivers comprehensive advanced instruction in research methodologies spanning all social science disciplines. All program pathways hold ESRC accreditation and fulfill the training criteria for ESRC doctoral funding eligibility.
This program facilitates numerous interdisciplinary learning opportunities, enables the application of social research skills for professional advancement, and supports specialized postgraduate study in areas of personal academic interest.
Students will gain both theoretical foundations and practical competencies in designing robust research projects, selecting from diverse social science data collection techniques, and mastering key approaches to analyzing social science data. The curriculum also covers the ethical and political contexts of social research, along with various strategies for disseminating research findings.
Criminology Specialization
The Criminology track equips students with analytical capabilities, research proficiency, hands-on experience in criminological research production, and an interdisciplinary foundation incorporating sociological, legal, psychological, political science, and social policy perspectives.
