The MPhys Astrophysics program explores fundamental principles of physics and mathematics while emphasizing our understanding of the cosmos. This curriculum provides comprehensive training in both theoretical physics/astrophysics and practical observational astronomy techniques. Recognized by the Institute of Physics (IOP), this four-year course offers deeper astrophysical study than the standard three-year BSc degree. The program equips students for careers in academic or industrial research, education, or any field requiring strong analytical and quantitative problem-solving skills. You'll join a supportive academic community based in the Queen's Building complex, featuring specialized laboratories, modern lecture halls, and advanced computing resources.
AAA-ABB. To include Maths and Physics. Applicants taking Maths without Physics will also be considered normally subject to achieving a grade A in Maths. You will need to pass the science practical element of the A-level if this is part of your programme of study.
Extended/International Project Qualification: Applicants with grade A in the EPQ/IPQ will typically receive an offer one grade lower than the standard offer.
36-32 overall or 666- 665 in 3 HL subjects. To include HL Maths and HL Physics. Applicants taking HL Maths without HL Physics will also be considered normally subject to achieving a grade 6 in HL Maths.
IELTS (Academic): At least 6.5 overall with a minimum of 5.5 in each subskill. TOEFL iBT: At least 90 overall with a minimum of 17 for writing, 17 for listening, 18 for reading, and 20 for speaking.
