Civil engineers are essential in shaping our physical world, from conceptualizing and building structures to developing flood protection systems and water distribution networks. Our Civil Engineering program provides a prestigious degree from a leading university in this discipline, equipping you for dynamic professional paths in shaping both urban and natural landscapes. A unique feature of this MEng Civil Engineering (International) program is the opportunity to spend a semester studying engineering in English at one of over 65 partner universities across four continents. Opting for the four-year MEng accelerates your path to becoming a Chartered Engineer compared to the three-year BEng route. You'll gain comprehensive theoretical knowledge complemented by hands-on experience through labs, research projects, fieldwork, and design sessions, preparing you for diverse roles in civil engineering. The MEng's final two years focus on deepening expertise, with specialized training in design, project management, and multidisciplinary coordination.

Career opportunities - Our graduates typically join leading civil engineering firms like Sir Robert McAlpine, Ramboll, Arup, and Mott McDonald, taking on positions such as graduate civil engineer, site engineer, or design engineer across the UK and internationally. In 2015/16, 95% of our School's employable graduates secured jobs or pursued further education within six months. Some alumni advance to MSc or PhD programs at Cardiff or other global institutions, while others join prominent corporations in finance, media, and energy—including Deloitte, PwC, Virgin, and Shell.
