Civil and environmental engineers create, construct, and sustain the infrastructure that defines our daily lives while addressing ecological concerns like waste disposal, polluted sites, and water purification. This certified program equips you with the expertise, competencies, and practical training required to become a skilled civil and environmental engineer. Through hands-on lab work, field excursions, personal assignments, and design workshops, you'll apply theoretical knowledge while honing your surveying and design capabilities. You'll select from various genuine engineering challenges and industry-based situations, collaborating both independently and with peers from different engineering fields. These team projects simulate real engineering collaborations, fostering professional abilities like cooperation and effective communication. Our accessible makerspace offers a creative hub for designing, innovating, and working together. You can undertake a paid internship anywhere globally, including international locations, gaining valuable industry experience while applying your acquired skills. Previous students have secured placements with leading firms like Arup, Mott MacDonald, and WSP. The MEng program enables you to deepen and broaden your civil engineering expertise through advanced design, management studies, and interdisciplinary engineering projects. Career opportunities Graduates typically enter the civil engineering sector with major firms such as Sir Robert McAlpine, Ramboll, Arup, and Mott McDonald, taking positions like graduate civil engineer, site engineer, or design engineer across the UK and internationally. Some alumni pursue postgraduate studies at Cardiff or other global institutions, while others join prominent corporations in finance, media, and energy sectors, including Deloitte, PwC, Virgin, and Shell.
A level AAA-ABB. Must include grade A in Maths. You will need to pass the science practical element of the A-level if this is part of your programme of study. Extended/International Project Qualification: Applicants with grade A in the EPQ/IPQ will typically receive an offer one grade lower than the standard A level offer. Please note that any subject specific requirements must still be met. International Baccalaureate 36-32 overall or 666-665 in 3 HL subjects. Must include grade 6 in HL Maths. GCSE Grade C or grade 4 in GCSE English Language. IELTS - At least 6.5 overall with a minimum of 5.5 in each sub-score TOEFL iBT - At least 90 with minimum scores of 17 for writing, 17 for listening, 18 for reading and 20 for speaking
