Our MBBCh program, known as C21, equips you for a fulfilling career as an NHS foundation doctor and beyond. Spanning five years, C21's spiral curriculum systematically builds your medical knowledge, clinical abilities, and professional values. We cultivate exceptional clinicians with deep understanding of both patients and their environments.
The C21 curriculum begins by establishing core learning skills for higher education while laying foundations in integrated clinical sciences. Instruction occurs through diverse methods including classroom teaching, practical sessions, lectures, and digital platforms. Early clinical exposure in hospitals and community settings helps you apply theoretical knowledge.
C21 prioritizes science education within clinical contexts, emphasizing patient-centered care. From year one, you'll interact with patients in our state-of-the-art facilities, learning about common conditions directly from those affected and their physicians.
As you advance, the program increasingly focuses on clinical skill development - starting with simulation training before progressing to extended placements across Welsh healthcare settings, with growing responsibilities.
You'll consistently demonstrate developing professional attributes throughout. Upon graduation, you'll prove patient care is your priority, capable of applying knowledge ethically, leading teams, and navigating complex clinical scenarios. You'll meet all General Medical Council requirements outlined in 'Outcomes for Graduates'.
