Our Bar Training Course provides rigorous postgraduate education for aspiring barristers who also want to pursue Master's-level research. This program bridges the gap between undergraduate studies and the practical training phase called pupillage.
You'll develop essential skills and procedural knowledge to satisfy the Bar Standards Board's (BSB) requirements outlined in their Professional Statement for Barristers.
The course cultivates professional ethics while offering insights into barristers' daily work and encouraging reflection on contemporary legal challenges.
Classes are scheduled Monday through Thursday (maximum four days weekly) to allow for independent study. Advocacy training occurs in focused two-hour sessions with small groups of up to six students, plus optional specialized advocacy modules.
We'll highlight how our curriculum aligns with SQE Stage 1 content for criminal litigation and dispute resolution, supplementing any areas not fully covered during the program.
Students can attempt the BSB's centrally administered assessments in December, April, or August during their enrollment year.
Graduates who complete their Inn of Court's qualifying sessions become eligible for call to the Bar of England and Wales.
