Why choose this programAs a future Dentist, you'll guide a dental team, diagnose and treat oral conditions, address dental and facial injuries, and provide patients with essential oral healthcare advice. You'll develop your clinical abilities in our advanced dental simulation lab, working with training mannequins affectionately called 'phantom heads'. This practical training readies you for diverse real-world clinical situations you'll encounter later in the program, supported by our strong NHS partnerships.Your education extends beyond our University Dental Hospital (which we're fortunate to call our base) to include clinical placements throughout Wales. Here, you'll learn alongside skilled clinicians who will mentor you toward becoming an exceptional dental professional.Upon graduation, you'll qualify for General Dental Council registration, opening doors to various career paths including general practice, community dentistry, public health dentistry, hospital dentistry, and military dental services.This program also serves as an ideal foundation for specializing in specific dental fields or pursuing research to tackle significant societal health challenges.Learning approachOur teaching incorporates diverse methods to enhance your education. These include traditional lectures, interactive small-group sessions, one-on-one clinical instruction, and digital learning. You'll engage in group and individual projects, researching topics and presenting findings to classmates. Additional methods feature problem-solving exercises, hands-on practical sessions, and simulation training for crucial skills like handling medical emergencies.

Qualification Requirements

A level - AAA. Must include Biology and Chemistry. You will need to pass the science practical element of the A-level if this is part of your programme of study. International Baccalaureate - 36 overall or 666 in 3 HL subjects. Must include grade 6 in HL Biology and Chemistry. You must have: English language or Welsh language at GCSE grade B/6 or an equivalent. If you require a Student visa, you must ensure your language qualification complies with UKVI requirements. and six other GCSEs including grade AA/77 in Double Award science or Biology and Chemistry as separate subjects, or equivalent qualifications (level, subjects and grade). and sat the UCAT prior to submitting your application. IELTS (academic) At least 7.0 overall with a minimum of 7.0 in speaking and a minimum of 6.5 in all other subskills. TOEFL iBT: At least 100 overall with a minimum of 24 in speaking and 22 in all other subskills.
