This adaptable three-year program offers a comprehensive foundation in chemistry, allowing you to focus on your preferred specializations through elective modules and research opportunities. The curriculum covers essential subjects including analytical, physical, organic, inorganic, and solid-state chemistry, complemented by diverse optional modules ranging from sustainable chemistry and pharmaceutical development to catalysis and biosynthesis engineering. After your first year, you may opt to include a Placement Year Abroad or Year in Industry, contingent on academic performance. (International students should note that placement programs extend to four years due to visa regulations.) Chemistry graduates can pursue roles in chemical or pharmaceutical sectors, leverage their analytical abilities in fields like education or finance, or continue to advanced studies. Career opportunities Chemists address critical global issues—from renewable energy and water purification to innovative drug development. A chemistry degree unlocks diverse career paths both within and beyond laboratory settings. Alumni have secured positions as: Product Development Chemist Patent Examiner Quality Assurance Specialist Chemical Process Engineer Research Scientist Placement opportunities All students complete a semester-long research project in Cardiff's chemistry labs. Students may later transition to placement-focused BSc or MChem programs with departmental approval. Additionally, summer research projects supervised by faculty members are available at Cardiff University.
A level ABB-BBC. Must include Chemistry. You will need to pass the science practical element of the A-level if this is part of your programme of study. Extended/International Project Qualification: Applicants with grade A in the EPQ/IPQ will typically receive an offer one grade lower than the standard offer. Please note that any subject specific requirements must still be met. International Baccalaureate 32-30 overall or 666-665 in 3 HL subjects. Must include grade 6 in HL Chemistry. GCSE Grade C or grade 4 in GCSE English Language. IELTS (academic) At least 6.5 overall with a minimum of 5.5 in each subskill. TOEFL iBT At least 90 overall with a minimum of 17 for writing, 17 for listening, 18 for reading, and 20 for speaking.
