This program is designed to cultivate graduates who possess comprehensive academic and practical knowledge of the Welsh language, its literary traditions, and cultural heritage, along with advanced written and verbal communication abilities. Additionally, it fosters essential employability and creative competencies tailored to contemporary Welsh society. With the Welsh Government's ambitious goal of achieving one million Welsh speakers by 2050, the need for professionals with this expertise has never been higher. Mastering Welsh at a professional level significantly enhances career prospects, offering graduates the chance to shape Wales' linguistic, cultural, and economic landscape through diverse and fulfilling career paths. The three-year curriculum offers two distinct tracks: one for native Welsh speakers and another for those who learned Welsh as a second language. While first-year instruction is largely separate, students from both streams merge for most second-year modules. By the final year, all participants learn together. The program combines mandatory and elective courses to establish a strong foundation in language and literature while allowing specialization in areas of personal or professional relevance. Second-year students also benefit from a work placement opportunity to refine their practical skills and professional confidence.
