Be the initial responder to evaluate, care for, and direct emergency patients. This dynamic position offers unique challenges daily.
Our Paramedic Science program provides the essential training to become an independent, competent, and secure paramedic. With clinical education at its core, approximately half your studies will involve hands-on experience in ambulance and alternative healthcare environments, bridging theory with real-world application.
3-year duration
We maintain robust partnerships with South East Coast Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust (SECAmb), where you'll complete the majority of your practical training alongside their experts. Additional placements in community settings, GP clinics, and hospitals ensure comprehensive exposure to patient care pathways.
What you'll learn
Clinical experience is central to your learning, with around 50% of your time spent on placements in both ambulance and non-ambulance care.
You’ll develop hands-on expertise, applying theory in real-world settings and learning alongside experienced professionals. Strong partnerships with South East Coast Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust (SECAmb) ensure you gain exposure to a wide range of emergency and non-emergency patient care scenarios.
From developing your practical skills in our clinical simulation suites to being the first on the scene and assessing a patient's conditions, you'll be exposed to many different situations and will care for people in emergency and non-emergency situations.
On successful completion, you'll be eligible to apply for registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC), opening doors to a rewarding career in paramedic practice.

Offers of a place can only be made after a successful interview and are subject to a satisfactory reference, health clearance and Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.
Health clearance will include vaccinations for NHS placements, and evidence of vaccination status may be required by placement providers or the university.
You will need to demonstrate a basic understanding of the profession and explain why it is the right career choice for you.
