The BA (Hons) Film and Television Production program helps you build expertise in bringing cinematic visions to life, from initial idea to final cut. Gain hands-on experience both in front of and behind the lens, covering every production phase - from talent selection and location hunting to financial planning and evaluating a film's performance.
Most of your studies will take place at our High Wycombe Campus, where you'll acquire the essential competencies for a smooth shift from academic life to professional work. There may also be opportunities to learn at our Pinewood Studios facility, immersing you in one of the world's most renowned creative centers.
The curriculum begins by examining fundamental film theories and analytical techniques. You'll investigate various cinematic forms including mainstream Hollywood movies, documentary films, indie productions, and the evolving landscape of digital streaming platforms.
You'll receive training in live broadcasting and multi-camera techniques, adhering to professional television standards while working with real clients. The program covers genre analysis, enhances your production and scriptwriting research abilities, and teaches project development across all stages (pre-production, filming, and post-production) for diverse formats - from narrative films and documentaries to news coverage, commercial shoots, music videos, and live studio productions. You'll also have opportunities to compile a professional portfolio of your work.
