The Education department aims to lead as London's most forward-thinking institution. Rooted in the British Commonwealth's earliest teacher training colleges – all with progressive legacies – we provide research-driven programs for educators, youth workers, community professionals, and scholars focused on Education studies. Our research receives funding from prestigious bodies including the UK Economic and Social Research Council, Arts and Humanities Research Council, British Academy, and numerous charitable organizations. With both local and global engagement, our research impact aligns with these ambitions. The 2014 REF recognized 60% of our department's research as world-leading or internationally excellent, with 90% achieving internationally excellent impact ratings. Faculty expertise spans Pedagogy and Professional Education; STEM Education; Social Justice, Special Educational Needs, and Inclusive Education.
