Our research explores diverse literary traditions, from modernist and postwar women's literature to Caribbean and diasporic fiction, examining literature's profound influence on society. We prioritize creating both cultural and scholarly impact through our work. Brunel's Creative Writing program stands among the UK's elite, consistently ranking in the top 10% of such programs nationwide. Our faculty includes some of Britain's most distinguished, innovative, and prolific contemporary writers - such as Benjamin Zephaniah, Will Self, Bernardine Evaristo, and others - who have collectively published more than 80 groundbreaking works across genres and contributed to all major national publications. Specialized research areas encompass modern/contemporary literature, Shakespearean studies, Renaissance scholarship, Victorian studies, and global Anglophone literature.
