Civil engineers plan, build, and maintain elements of both natural and constructed environments. Pursuing civil engineering allows you to tackle current community challenges while preparing for future ones. Brunel's program nurtures your creativity while fostering effective learning and teamwork skills in multidisciplinary settings. Starting from day one, you'll experience our distinctive interdisciplinary learning method. The first year involves studying alongside peers from various engineering fields in our shared Engineering program. Year two focuses on core civil engineering topics including material science, structural analysis, hydraulics, and surveying. In your third year, you can specialize in "Flood and Coastal Engineering," switch to "Environmental Engineering," or continue with the standard Civil Engineering track. The fourth year offers advanced studies in your chosen specialization. Between years two and three, you may opt for a placement year - an excellent chance to gain practical experience in office settings, design projects, or construction sites. We strongly encourage placements as they enhance post-graduation employment opportunities.

This program holds accreditation from the Joint Board of Moderators (JBM), including major engineering institutions, meeting Incorporated Engineer (IEng) requirements and partially fulfilling Chartered Engineer (CEng) educational standards.
