Mechanical engineering involves creating, improving, and producing mechanical systems - ranging from massive industrial equipment to transportation vehicles like trains and aircraft, as well as medical equipment, smartphones, and countless everyday products. Virtually every invention, technology, or mechanism has likely involved a mechanical engineer's expertise. Brunel's Mechanical Engineering BEng program equips students with specialized knowledge and practical abilities to launch a rewarding career in this multifaceted field. The curriculum provides a thorough understanding of engineering fundamentals, including mechanics of solids, thermodynamics, and materials science, alongside essential design and manufacturing concepts. Students also gain expertise in complementary fields crucial to mechanical engineering, such as computational modeling, electrical systems for power management, and electronic components that integrate with mechanical parts. Additionally, since mechanical engineers often transition into leadership roles, the program incorporates business management, ethics, financial principles, and legal considerations.
