This program offers valuable connections with the British Computer Society (BCS), which collaborates with the Department of Education to train future computing educators via Computing at School. Through this partnership, you'll gain early exposure to experienced computing instructors across the West Midlands during regular hub gatherings. You'll also benefit from networking and professional growth opportunities, including our annual regional conference hosted at the City Centre Campus. As one of 10 designated Regional Centre universities nationwide, we're committed to advancing exceptional computing education in the West Midlands – and we want you involved from day one of your teaching journey.
Building Career-Ready Abilities
Graduates complete the program equipped with diverse knowledge and skills that boost their job prospects.
We attribute this success to fostering a true learning community that cultivates professional self-assurance, further strengthened by our outstanding school collaborations.
PRACTICAL EXPERIENCE
School-based training constitutes two-thirds of the course, with placements arranged across various educational settings.
You'll teach in at least two different schools and observe others, including primary institutions, gaining firsthand insight into teaching methods and accumulating practical knowledge.
The program includes both serial and block placements, supported by trained mentors who provide guidance, academic support, and constructive feedback throughout your studies.
