You'll join a vibrant, welcoming community at Margaret Street, located minutes from the City Centre Campus. Here, you'll utilize various creative studios, cutting-edge technology, and software to build practical skills, foster creative exploration, and refine conceptual thinking. The initial semester modules establish essential creative practice fundamentals, emphasizing technical proficiency, study techniques, and productivity. The concluding semester modules bridge research and practice, strengthening decision-making and technical mastery. This phase equips you with the independent learning skills vital for your future BA studies.Upon completing the foundation year, you can seamlessly transition to the BA Visual Effects program or explore alternative degree options if your interests evolve. Our tutors will guide you through these decisions with ongoing support throughout the year.BA (Hons) Visual Effects DegreeAfter your foundation year, you may advance to the BA (Hons) Visual Effects program at the City Centre Campus, where creativity intersects with technology (STEAM). This degree hones both your artistic and technical talents, opening doors to careers in TV, film, gaming, advertising, architecture, education, and beyond.Visual Effects is a rapidly growing, multi-billion-pound industry worldwide, with increasing opportunities for skilled professionals in film, TV, and gaming.This course equips you with technical, creative, and production expertise for diverse career paths. You'll master disciplines like modeling, rigging, animation, dynamics, lighting, rendering, and compositing. Training includes access to advanced facilities like a Vicon Motion Capture studio, high-performance workstations, industry-standard software (Maya, Nuke, Houdini), and one of the UK's largest fixed green screen studios. Learn from experienced instructors with expertise in visual effects and computer graphics, including industry veterans and innovators collaborating with leading studios.

80 UCAS Tariff points. A level: A Level: 80 UCAS Tariff points / CDD (or equivalent) and AS Level: Must be in a different subject to A Levels. Pearson BTEC (Diploma / Extended Diploma/ Extended Certificate): 80 UCAS Tariff points and Diploma accepted with one A Level or equivalent level 3 qualifications. Access to HE Diploma: Pass with 60 credits, 45 credits at level 3. Scottish Higher / Advanced Higher: 80 UCAS Tariff points from three Advanced Highers (DDD) or two Advanced Highers (DD) plus two Highers (DD). International Baccalaureate Diploma: Obtain a minimum of 24 points overall. IELTS 6.0 overall with no less than 5.5 in each band.
