Biomedical Science encompasses various fields such as clinical biochemistry, molecular genetics, cellular biology, immunology, and hematology. These disciplines play a crucial role in healthcare, medical advancements, and the biotech and pharmaceutical sectors. This program teaches students about human physiology in both healthy and diseased states, covering disease diagnosis, treatment, and management. Students will acquire hands-on laboratory experience using cutting-edge equipment in modern life sciences facilities. The final year includes an independent research project supervised by faculty, allowing students to apply their accumulated knowledge. Graduates can pursue diverse career paths or further education, including roles as lab assistants, biomedical scientists, clinical trial coordinators, research technicians, or sales representatives in medical fields. The degree also serves as a foundation for teaching careers or advanced studies like Master's programs, PhDs, or professional healthcare degrees. Standard offer: 112 UCAS Tariff points. In addition to the A Level, BTEC and other level 3 requirements below, applicants for this course also need GCSE English Language or English Literature and GCSE Maths at grade C/4 or above. If you do not have these or are not undertaking them, we accept other level 2 equivalents, or we may ask you to pass BCU's GCSE equivalency tests. A Level: 112 UCAS Tariff points from three A Levels, Grades BBC (or equivalent). Pearson BTEC (Diploma / Extended Diploma/ Extended Certificate): 112 UCAS tariff points. Access to HE Diploma: Pass with 60 credits, 45 credits at level 3. Irish Leaving Certificate (Highers): Minimum of 112 UCAS tariff points, achieved in five Higher level subjects. Scottish Higher / Advanced Higher: 112 UCAS tariff points from three Advanced Highers (CCD) or two Advanced Highers (CD) plus two Highers (CC). Students will also require IELTS 7.0 overall with no less than 6.5 in each band. TOEFL iBT - 95 (reading - 24, Listening - 22, Speaking - 25 and writing - 24).
