Course Overview Our Master of Arts in AI, Ethics and Society offers a comprehensive examination of key issues at the intersection of artificial intelligence and modern society. Why choose this program There's increasing need for experts who can navigate the ethical dimensions of emerging technologies while tackling their societal and business impacts. This program combines technical expertise with philosophical and ethical perspectives, empowering you to make meaningful contributions in an AI-driven world. Through interdisciplinary approaches drawing from philosophy, law, social sciences and humanities, you'll develop skills to address AI's ethical, social and creative consequences. What you'll learn This program provides thorough insight into the complex dynamics between AI technologies and societal values. The curriculum focuses on AI decision-making processes, highlighting concerns about fairness, bias, security vulnerabilities and privacy. It explores how these technological developments affect political systems, interpersonal connections and social frameworks across multiple sectors. Your studies begin with foundational modules where you'll: explore AI's historical evolution and progression examine AI through ethical frameworks to critically assess appropriate applications and implementation challenges. Elective modules allow you to investigate legal and theoretical questions raised by algorithmic technologies. You can study artificial general intelligence concepts and gain practical media production experience to analyze challenges like deepfake risks, algorithmic bias and workforce impacts.
At least a second-class honours degree (2:2), or equivalent, in any area of study. We welcome applicants without traditional entry qualifications as we base decisions on our own assessment of qualifications, knowledge and previous work experience. We may waive formal entry requirements based on judgement of academic potential. If English is not your first language or you have not previously studied in English, our usual requirement is the equivalent of an International English Language Testing System (IELTS Academic Test) score of 6.5, with not less than 6.0 in each of the sub-tests. TOEFL: 79 (reading: 18, writing: 23, listening: 19, speaking: 19).
