The MA Fine Art (Media) program at Bath Spa fosters experimentation and risk-taking, guiding you toward developing your unique artistic approach. You'll enhance your abilities through a blend of practical work, research, and professional growth. Expand your creative network throughout the South West and globally by engaging with our partners and tapping into the research expertise of the Centre for Cultural and Creative Industries. Previous students have successfully collaborated with galleries, museums, artists, curators, businesses, and educational institutions. This MA Fine Art (Media) program supports your personal research journey through media art practice, featuring one-on-one studio tutorials, seminars, lectures, and hands-on workshops. The curriculum assists you in defining, examining, and refining your artistic identity while integrating theory, research, and contemporary practices. Access specialized resources for moving image and sound production, including binaural sound equipment, high-end cameras, 360-degree cameras, and editing tools. You'll collaborate in an interdisciplinary setting with peers specializing in Photography, Painting, Curatorial Practice, Ceramics, Visual Communication, Graphics, Illustration, and Textiles, helping you situate your work within current artistic discussions.
You’ll need a good first degree in Fine Art/Media/Creative Media or equivalent experience, and experience of how fine artists, and the filed of Fine Art, work. Depending on your course, you’ll need either IELTS 6.5 or 7.0. For visa nationals this must include a minimum of 5.5 or 6.0 in Listening, Speaking, Reading and Writing. This must include a total of 75, to include a minimum of 18 in Reading, 17 in Listening, 20 in Speaking, and 17 in Writing.
