Our BA (Hons) Interior Design program centers on transforming existing structures and environments through creative solutions. You'll examine the sensory aspects of everyday spaces—including illumination, atmosphere, textures, and surfaces—and their role in shaping experiences. As an emerging interior designer, you'll adapt these principles to diverse settings like hospitality venues, cultural institutions, retail environments, and corporate spaces. This year includes a professional placement component, typically involving one to three internships spanning at least nine months, helping you demonstrate readiness for career-level positions.
Starting immediately, you'll create design concepts for various interior typologies including dining establishments, lodging facilities, commercial outlets, and cultural venues. With sustainability being crucial in modern design, adaptive reuse of structures becomes an essential competency. Design Studio projects serve as the curriculum's foundation, supplemented by lectures and workshops on current industry practices. Collaborative opportunities with real clients and community partners will enhance your teamwork and professional skills.
Career paths for Interior Design graduates span numerous specialties. Beyond conventional architecture and interior firms, alumni frequently enter niche sectors including exhibition design, commercial merchandising environments, performance spaces, and media production design.
