The MPhil requires a dissertation of up to 60,000 words, while the PhD typically demands a thesis not exceeding 100,000 words. English specializations include: Medieval through 20th century literature, Post-1500 English Literature, Arthurian studies, American Literature, Comparative Literature, Anglo-Welsh works, Postcolonial studies, Gender studies in writing, Autobiographical works, Travel literature, Romantic era, Renaissance texts, Modern English/American theater, Milton and Civil War period writings, Modernist works, Contemporary poetry, and Creative Writing. Applicants must submit a minimum 500-word research proposal with a supporting bibliography and personal statement detailing their relevant academic background and research experience in their selected area.
