The Business School's PhD program at Bangor has been praised by independent assessors as 'unparalleled in the UK.' We boast one of the highest PhD completion rates nationwide and hold ESRC accreditation for our research training pathways (MSc to PhD) in both Management/Business and Economics. Our vibrant community of current and recent PhD students comes from varied backgrounds, reflecting the diversity of their fascinating research topics.
Program Duration
Typically, full-time PhD candidates complete their studies in 3 years, while part-time students take 5-6 years. The program culminates in a 100,000-word thesis that must demonstrate substantial original contributions to the field, followed by an oral defense examination.
For the MPhil (Master of Philosophy) degree, full-time students generally complete their studies in 2 years (3 years part-time). This requires successful completion of supervised research, presented in a thesis not exceeding 60,000 words.
