Our Masters by Research programs require students to complete a predefined course of study and research (typically designed by the student), which usually consists of either (a) a thorough assessment and examination of a specific area of knowledge, or (b) an innovative addition to the field. For the MMus by Research, projects typically incorporate composition or performance as key components of the research process and final submission.
Every student is assigned a supervisory team, including a primary supervisor, a personal tutor, and an additional faculty member with relevant specialization. Research candidates meet regularly with their primary supervisor (usually every two weeks) and may consult other committee members as needed. They are also encouraged to share progress updates through seminars and colloquia throughout their studies.
Career Prospects
Through this program, students will achieve expertise in their chosen field and be equipped to produce meaningful, original work in their discipline. Numerous graduates pursue further research at the doctoral level. The program's emphasis on independent, self-driven learning prepares alumni for leadership roles, specialized research positions, advanced creative professions, and academic pathways.
