Our Master of Arts in Welsh: Language and Literature (MA Cymraeg: Iaith a Llenyddiaeth) provides a dynamic chance to explore diverse facets of the language and its literary traditions through either Welsh or English instruction - spanning from Aneirin's ancient heroic verse to contemporary translated works. Students can enrich their experience by engaging with Welsh language learning opportunities in Bangor University's lively academic setting and surrounding communities, where the language thrives as a living cultural force.
The program's adaptable structure allows us to customize content based on individual academic interests, with guidance provided by subject-matter experts across various disciplines.
Students will expand their knowledge through a series of focused writing assignments (totaling 120 credits) and undertake an in-depth 20,000-word dissertation (worth 60 credits) on a specialized topic of their choosing.
The Shankland Library's extensive Welsh-language collections and Bangor University's exceptional Archives and Special Collections resources will be available for research purposes.
This program offers both full-time (1 year) and part-time (2 year) study options, and welcomes applicants holding relevant undergraduate degrees.
