Zoology focuses entirely on the study of animals. This zoology program provides comprehensive training in modern animal science, covering the varied forms, functions, evolution, and ecological relationships of major animal groups. Through flexible module options, you'll develop expertise in both invertebrate and vertebrate biology, including specialized areas like animal behavior, insect studies, parasite research, growth processes, evolutionary theory, and environmental interactions. The course includes domestic and international fieldwork opportunities, along with chances to assist in research labs and animal care facilities. At Bangor, you'll acquire vital technical and transferable skills in experimental methods, lab work, statistical analysis, teamwork, presentations, academic writing, and digital tools. Students benefit from cutting-edge animal biology facilities and easy access to diverse ecosystems for essential fieldwork. The university houses its own Natural History Museum and collaborates with Environment Centre Wales, a joint initiative with the Natural Environment Research Council. Campus resources include aquatic habitats, reptile and mammal enclosures, advanced research labs, lecture theaters, computing facilities, and study areas.
