About This ProgramThe BSc Sport and Exercise Science (with Foundation Year) combines a preparatory year with a three-year honors degree, forming a comprehensive four-year curriculum. This program serves as an outstanding introduction to university-level sport science studies, equipping students with essential knowledge, skills, and confidence for degree-level work. The Foundation Year option is perfect for applicants who narrowly miss entry requirements for the three-year degree or would benefit from additional preparatory study in scientific subjects.Upon successfully completing the Foundation Year, students advance to Year 1 of the BSc Sport and Exercise Science program or may opt to transfer to related degrees including BSc Adventure Sport Science, BSc Sport Science, Coaching and Physical Education, BSc Sport Science: Strength and Conditioning, or BSc Sport and Exercise Psychology.

From elite sports' marginal gains approach to the proliferation of health-tracking bioapps and fitness devices, the sport and exercise science field is experiencing remarkable growth. Bangor University's Sport and Exercise Science degree brings the scientific principles behind these innovations into sharp focus.

While covering fundamental areas like psychology, physiology, biomechanics, and skill acquisition, our program uniquely incorporates contemporary psychophysiological and neuroscientific research in sport and exercise. This interdisciplinary approach helps students understand how various sport science disciplines interconnect - precisely the perspective modern sport and exercise scientists need for successful careers in elite sports, corporate wellness, rehabilitation, or public health sectors.

You'll learn from internationally renowned researchers and applied practitioners who bring real-world experience from prestigious organizations (including NHS, military, UK Sport, Sport Wales, Premier League football teams, and cricket boards) and work with top-tier athletes. Set in North Wales' breathtaking landscape, our department - established in 1978 - boasts one of the world's longest-running Sport and Exercise Science programs.Career ProspectsWhile this Foundation Year primarily leads into BSc Sport and Exercise Science, it also provides access to other sport science degrees. Career information varies by chosen degree path and can be found on respective course pages.
