Medical science delves into the study of the human body in both healthy and diseased states, examining human physiology, anatomy, clinical diagnostics, infectious diseases, and treatments—from molecular irregularities to visible anatomical alterations. Rooted in contemporary medical practice, this program equips students with the expertise to pursue various clinical careers such as Physician Associate, Physiotherapy, and Paramedic Science. It also opens doors for graduate entry into Medicine, including Cardiff’s MBBCh C21 program in North Wales, based in Bangor.

Armed with integrated scientific knowledge and essential skills like critical thinking, communication, and problem-solving, graduates are highly employable in medical science fields. Many pursue postgraduate training to become Physician Associates, Radiographers, Paramedics, Physiotherapists, or other allied health professionals.
The degree also prepares students for MSc and PhD programs, as well as research roles within the NHS (including the NHS Scientist Training Programme). Recent BMedSci graduates have pursued advanced studies in Cardiovascular Science, Neuroimaging, Psychology, Infectious Disease Control, and Health Promotion, while others have entered teaching, the armed forces, law enforcement, or management roles.
Internships and work experience are actively encouraged during your studies to provide real-world insights and a competitive advantage. Opportunities include short-term placements (e.g., summer internships) or year-long ‘sandwich’ placements across all our degree programs.
