Aston University has built its global standing as a research-focused business school largely through groundbreaking studies from the Work and Organisation department during the 1960s and 70s, specializing in Work Psychology - especially in organizational frameworks, workplace environments, and productivity. These research efforts extended well into the 21st century, shifting emphasis toward team dynamics and collaborative processes.
We honor this legacy while pushing boundaries through cutting-edge, interdisciplinary research that drives innovation, fosters ethical leadership, and champions diversity. This collective effort is coordinated through our Work and Organisation Research Group (WON), which includes all department members. Current investigations examine the concept of open organizations - entities that prioritize collaboration to enhance decision-making and spur innovation. Practical applications are demonstrated through our case study portfolio.
