This MA program enables students to develop a comprehensive, critically aware perspective on contemporary animation theory and practice. Structured around three core pillars—Practice, Theory, and Professionalism—each component engages in critical dialogue with the others, ensuring your work remains at the cutting edge of the field. As an interdisciplinary domain intersecting Art and Design, Film, Computing, Fine Art, and Graphics, animation demands that exceptional graduates cultivate expertise across diverse skills, techniques, and theoretical frameworks. The program's primary goal is to foster a collaborative 'community of practice' among students—encouraging research, critique, and shared production culture—rather than isolated individual pursuits. Applicants typically hold a BA in Animation or a related field, though exceptional candidates from other disciplines (such as Costume, Graphics, or Fine Art) with animation experience may be considered. Our graduates have secured positions at leading studios including Aardman, Pixar, and Framestore, contributing to AUB's strong alumni network that frequently engages with current students.
