The BA (Hons) Games Art and Design program fosters groundbreaking approaches to game development. Throughout this course, you'll design and build your own video games while acquiring essential industry knowledge and technical skills.Program OverviewThis innovative BA (Hons) Games Art and Design degree allows you to explore fresh gaming viewpoints by designing and developing original computer games.You'll develop comprehensive understanding of the games industry, create distinctive concept artwork, master character animation methods, experiment with gameplay mechanics, and study cutting-edge technologies including AI programming. Upon completion, you'll be proficient in game production using Unity and Unreal engines.This degree program encourages both creative and conceptual growth, enabling you to investigate game design, trial new concepts, and gain industry insights. You'll produce unique concept art, acquire character animation skills, conduct gameplay experiments, and explore emerging technologies like AI scripting. The program focuses on developing meaningful games, equipping you with specialized expertise for gaming careers and thoughtful approaches to game design that embrace diversity and inclusion.Optional Placement YearAll AUB undergraduate programs include an optional placement year between second and final year study.If you're uncertain about this opportunity, you don't need to decide immediately. Your course tutors will guide you through placement options during your studies, helping you make an informed choice when the time comes.Evaluation and FeedbackEach module undergoes individual assessment as an integral part of the learning process. These evaluations measure your progress while providing regular developmental feedback.Your final module grades appear as percentages on your academic transcript, using a distinctive marking system where only specific scores are awarded within grade ranges. Within each ten-point bracket, only 2, 5, and 8 marks are given (e.g., 62, 65, 68), representing low, medium, and high achievement levels respectively.All learning objectives must be satisfactorily met to pass each module.Upon successfully completing your degree, your final classification will be calculated from all Level 5 and 6 module results using two distinct algorithms outlined in the HE Student Regulations. If these calculations yield different outcomes, you'll receive the higher degree classification.
All applicants must have Level 3 qualifications, which will normally include at least one creative subject. We're looking for between 112 and 120 UCAS Tariff points. The standard offers for degree courses include: GCE A-Levels – BBB at A-Level excluding General Studies, or 120 UCAS Tariff points, Foundation Diploma in Art and Design at Pass, BTEC Level 3 Diploma at Distinction* Distinction, T-level grade of Merit or above, BTEC/OCR Extended Diploma at Distinction, Merit, Merit, RSL/UAL Diploma – must be combined with other Level 3 qualifications equivalent to 112-120 UCAS Tariff points, RSL/ UAL Extended Diploma at Merit, a combination of BTEC Subsidiary Diploma and A-Levels – equivalent to 120 UCAS Tariff points, Three BTEC Subsidiary Diploma passes at Grade Merit, Scottish Highers – five passes at Grade C or above. AUB welcomes applications from students who have completed, or who are soon to complete, a T level in a relevant subject to their chosen course of study. Applicants will be required to achieve an overall grade of Merit or above. Applicants with VTCT qualifications who've the ability to achieve the minimum stated entry requirements of between 112-120 UCAS points will be considered. Academic IELTS or UKVI IELTS 6.0 overall with at least 5.5 in each band. We'll accept IELTS Online (Academic) scores, TOEFL iBT with 80 overall with a minimum score of 18 in writing, listening, and reading and 19 in speaking. Please note the home version of this test is not accepted.
