Our doctoral programs offer the opportunity to participate in existing research initiatives or pursue your own academic interests in Theatre, Drama, and Performance, guided by our expert faculty. Anglia Ruskin's research in these fields concentrates on modern, contemporary, and avant-garde performance, examining both creative processes and final productions. Our scope encompasses diverse performance styles, from traditional scripted theater to cross-disciplinary collaborations incorporating digital media, cultural exchange, healthcare, movement arts, musical elements, creative development techniques, theoretical analysis, and experimental performance art.

This multidisciplinary approach fosters a dynamic intellectual atmosphere for both researchers and students. You'll have access to numerous academic events such as departmental lecture series, performance showcases, and global symposiums. We maintain strong connections with cultural institutions including The Junction, Cambridge Arts Picturehouse, Kettle's Yard, CRASSH at the University of Cambridge, and several healthcare partners within the NHS network.
