Our doctoral research programs enable you to participate in existing research initiatives or pursue your own sociological interests with guidance from our expert faculty. You'll be assigned two primary supervisors, with access to additional academic support when needed. Our supervisors possess extensive knowledge across sociological disciplines, specializing in areas such as social theory, gender studies, science and technology studies, and migration research. You'll benefit from a dynamic research atmosphere with strong connections to academic networks at Anglia Ruskin and beyond, including partnerships with the Citizens Advice Bureau and Cambridge University's CRASSH. We actively participate in numerous Faculty research groups, including PIER and StoryLab Research Institute.
We regularly organize and participate in academic events, including departmental seminars, where you can present your work in an encouraging environment. These gatherings, complemented by our digital platforms, facilitate connections with fellow researchers across various fields.
Your specialized studies will be complemented by university-wide training programs, developing essential research skills in ethics, presentation techniques, intellectual property, and digital research methods.
