Our doctoral research programs enable you to participate in existing research initiatives or pursue your own academic interests in English Language and Linguistics, guided by our expert faculty. You'll be assigned two primary supervisors, with access to additional academic support when needed. Our PhD advisors specialize in diverse linguistic fields such as multilingual studies, second language learning, syntactic theory, Romance languages, minority language communities, identity formation through language, and data-driven linguistic analysis.
You'll pursue your studies within an interdisciplinary framework, benefiting from our connections with various University departments and external organizations. We organize and participate in numerous academic events for researchers and graduate students, including departmental colloquia, faculty research presentations, and global conferences. Our seminar series provides opportunities to present your work in an encouraging academic environment.
We play a central role in the Anglia Ruskin-Cambridge University (ARC) Romance Linguistics Seminar series, offering numerous lectures you can attend or potentially participate in. These academic gatherings, combined with our digital platforms, facilitate networking with fellow research students across multiple disciplines.
