Our research spans the diverse expertise within our School and Faculty, tackling the multifaceted sustainability challenges facing cities today and tomorrow, both locally and worldwide. We motivate PhD students to actively participate in our School's research network, covering topics from climate adaptation and smart urban development to infrastructure systems, mechanical engineering, tribology, healthcare technologies, cultural studies, urban design, and architectural planning.

FCRN unites PhD candidates with faculty members across our School of Engineering and the Built Environment and other disciplines. We strive to develop actionable insights and policy recommendations that address pressing urban sustainability and resilience issues. Our research methodology emphasizes cross-sector collaboration with industry partners, nonprofit organizations, and policymakers, employing participatory approaches that engage stakeholders as co-creators rather than research subjects. This ensures our project outcomes deliver timely, practical solutions to real-world societal challenges.
