Our research teams are transforming the world through cutting-edge technologies and practical solutions, frequently partnering with industry leaders. We motivate PhD students to actively participate in our School's research ecosystem, covering diverse fields such as Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Data Science and Applications, Imaging Technologies, Computer Vision and Acoustics, IoT, Digital Systems and Cloud Computing, Semantic Web, Educational Technologies, and Cyber Security. The Computing, Informatics and Applications (CIA) research group focuses on practical, collaborative projects, often working with industry partners. We're especially focused on leveraging computational and artificial intelligence (AI) approaches to enhance quality of life and boost efficiency. The group specializes in image/signal processing, data visualization, mobile technologies, 2D/3D modeling, distributed systems, wireless networks, assistive sound/imaging technologies, virtual environments, IoT, and sensor applications.

Our Cyber Security and Networking (CSN) research group maintains strong strategic partnerships with industry, professional organizations, law enforcement, government agencies, and academic institutions to conduct practical, operationally relevant security research. CSN's core mission is to combat cybercrime, strengthen cyber resilience in the UK and allied nations, and promote secure digital practices for businesses and users. The CSN group also hosts a Cisco Networking Academy Programme (CNAP), dedicated to expanding access to infrastructure technologies and exploring innovative applications through research.

MPhil or PhD with progression from MPhil: Youll need a Bachelors degree or equivalent with first or upper second class honours, in a related subject area.

TOEFL iBT with 88 overall and a minimum of 17 in Writing and Listening, 18 in Reading and 20 in Speaking
