Our doctoral programs in Theatre, Drama and Performance enable you to participate in existing research initiatives or pursue your own academic interests with guidance from our expert faculty. Anglia Ruskin's research in this field concentrates on modern, contemporary and avant-garde performance, examining both creative processes and final productions. Our work spans diverse performance genres, from traditional scripted theater to cross-disciplinary collaborations incorporating digital media, cultural exchange, healthcare, movement arts, musical elements, innovative directing approaches, theoretical analysis, and experimental live performances.
This cross-disciplinary approach fosters a dynamic intellectual atmosphere for both researchers and students. You'll have access to numerous academic events such as departmental lecture series, performance showcases and global symposiums. We maintain strong connections with cultural institutions including The Junction, Cambridge Arts Picturehouse, Kettle's Yard, the University of Cambridge's CRASSH center, and multiple healthcare partners within the NHS network.
