Our BSc (Hons) Computer Games Programming degree equips you with comprehensive game development expertise, guiding you from concept creation to launching refined, playable games. Throughout your studies, you'll master specialized techniques in gameplay mechanics, AI systems, development tools, and mobile gaming, while becoming proficient in industry-standard languages like C# and C++. These skills won't just enable game creation - they'll provide you with valuable software development capabilities. You'll gain in-depth knowledge of leading game engines Unity and Unreal, making you highly desirable in creative sectors. Additionally, you'll compile an impressive professional portfolio to demonstrate your abilities to potential employers.

Choosing ARU's Computer Games Programming program opens doors to skill enhancement, practical experience, and industry connections. The East of England boasts nearly 200 gaming firms, with Cambridge alone hosting 26 companies including industry leaders like Jagex, Frontier Developments, and Ninja Theory (per ukie.org.uk's 2024 games map). Our Computer Games Art students benefit from real-world projects and insights from major tech companies including Sony and Frontier. You'll participate in game jams, industry events, conferences, and our annual Gamebridge festival - where students nationwide attend expert talks, receive portfolio feedback, and network with companies like Frontier and Jagex alongside fellow gaming enthusiasts.

Teamwork forms the foundation of game development, so you'll collaborate on projects with students from other creative disciplines, honing your teamwork and project coordination abilities. As gaming platforms multiply and player expectations rise, the industry increasingly demands graduates who can excel in diverse, multidisciplinary teams.
