As a Biomedical Sciences student at ARU Peterborough, you'll train in our specialized laboratory facilities that replicate professional research environments in this rapidly evolving scientific discipline. This crucial discipline forms the foundation of contemporary healthcare in our ever-evolving world. Our Biomedical Sciences program at ARU Peterborough explores human biology from molecular structures to entire organ systems. You'll master disease investigation and treatment methods under the guidance of our dedicated expert faculty, who will introduce cutting-edge research on conditions including cancer, diabetes, antimicrobial resistance, and blood clotting disorders.
Your studies will commence with foundational courses in general biology, human anatomy, physiology, microbiology, and cellular/molecular biology. The curriculum then progresses to contemporary diagnostic methods and specialized biomedical fields such as hematology, transfusion science, clinical biochemistry, histopathology, medical genetics, pathogenic microbiology, and immune system disorders.
During your final year, with mentorship from faculty advisors, you'll conduct original research in your chosen area of biomedical science. Alternatively, you may opt for our IBMS-accredited three-year BSc (Hons) Biomedical Science program in Cambridge. Both our standard three-year and four-year placement courses in Cambridge hold accreditation from the Royal Society of Biology.
