This demanding yet fulfilling profession frequently places you at the heart of society's most vulnerable and underserved populations.

Pursue your studies in Cambridge, Chelmsford, or Peterborough while gaining practical experience through undergraduate placements. Social work focuses on empowering individuals and families through complex situations requiring strong interpersonal abilities like effective communication and collaborative skills. Our partnership with the SUCI Group ensures direct learning from individuals with personal experience of social services. Substantial hands-on experience is integral to the program, featuring 170 placement days throughout your studies.
Every student completes two practical placements: 70 days in Year 2 and 100 days in Year 3, including mandatory statutory work involving legal processes. These placements provide critical workplace learning opportunities covering diverse areas such as client engagement, assessment techniques, relationship-building, intervention strategies, protective measures, and proper use of professional authority.
